[Solano County] Solano grand jury releases annual report

FAIRFIELD — The Solano County grand jury began its annual release of reports Monday with a trio of wordy reports largely absent of substance.

A report purporting to be an investigation into the eight charter high schools in Solano County came away with one conclusion: that the schools should state on their websites and elsewhere that parent participation is strictly voluntary and not required.

The Vallejo City Council is being asked to approve Councilwoman Rozzana Verder-Aliga’s travel expenses for her upcoming visit to several of Vallejo’s sister cities this summer.

The council will decide Tuesday whether to reimburse Verder-Aliga $1,520 for a goodwill mission from July 11 through 29.

Verder-Aliga is scheduled to visit the city’s sister cities in South Korea, the Philippines, and Japan.

The Vallejo City Council approved a request Tuesday night to reimburse Councilwoman Rozzana Verder-Aliga for her upcoming travel to three of Vallejo’s sister cities.

The action wasn’t unanimous as Councilman Robert McConnell voted against the expenditure. Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Katy Miessner was absent from the meeting.
