NBC Bay Area published an article by Candice Nguyen, Jeremy Carroll and Sean Myers on September 11, 2023 stating State 911 costs skyrocketed as the California Office of Emergency Services failed to conduct mandated reviews of local 911 centers. A recent [Alameda County] civil grand jury report said Oakland suffers from severe staffing shortages and years of stalled technology upgrades.
